Good night, sweet Prince,
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

I only met Prince once. He came to my show at The Roxy in LA. Our mutual agent at the time came to me after the set was over, pulled me to the side and said, "The Artist" wants to meet you, he's downstairs now." My eyes bugged out and my head tipped over like the RCA Dog. "What?" I said, "you mean PRINCE is here?" "He came to see your show", he said.  At that moment, I was struck with the worst case of stage fright I had ever had, ever! I was like Cindy Brady (Brady Bunch), when she was on the TV show and got stuck when the red light came on, "Baton Rouge Cindy, Baton Rouge!" I make my way down the stairs to a small hallway over to my right side, and there he is. He's there with a tall chocolate brown woman with a large afro. Prince is next to her, leaning his shoulders and one leg on the wall, sucking on a Charms Blow Pop, so you know I ain't lying. I stand on the other wall and am virtually speechless.  I believe I managed to say hi, and WOW! He leans over to my left ear, pulls the blow pop out of his mouth and says in his deep sexy voice, "I didn't get to see your whole show, but what I did see, I really liked a lot. "Thank you" I said, "thank you so much, it's such an honor, WOW." After that everything else was just a blur and I was totally star struck! Now, not one time in that exchange, did I think Prince was interested in me on a romantic tip, cause in my mind, I didn't look like ANY of the chicks that seemed to be his 'type'. The record company tells me  "Prince is sending something to you." When the package arrived, and I saw it was a cassette tape, I immediately thought, 'AW SHIT', Prince done wrote a song for me to sing, "see, number five has my name on it, 'dionne' that's the song I'm going to record" I said! And so the story goes.

WOW, I wish you would've broke down and kissed me too.

Well, Dionne
You should have held my hand
You should have let me be your man
Dionne
You should have closed your eyes
You should have held on with both hands to your prize
Dionne
You should have let me down easy
If you had no plans to please me
Dionne
Dionne
I could have been the one
I could have shown you the Champs-Élysées under the sun
Dionne, Dionne
I could have whispered your name
I could have whispered your name if only for fun
Dionne, (I love you)
You should have let me down easy
If you had no plans to please me
Dionne, Dionne, Dionne
Dionne
Dionne, Dionne
We could have shared a martini
We could have danced to Mancini till dawn
Dionne
I should have broke down and kissed you
I should have, I just wish you
Dionne
